Use Matplotlib for plotting

Reported by: Dirk Loss Assigned to: pbi
Priority: minor Milestone: mainstream
Component: Scapy Version: 1.0.4
Keywords: graphics Cc: orchard, banks

Description

I think Matplotlib would offer several enhancements over gnuplot:

  • Interactive usage: zooming, panning, saving to a file
  • Pretty graphics (anti-aliasing, transparency)
  • No more "'with' will become a reserved keyword" warnings
  • Very flexible API (both OO and Matlab-style)

As a proof of concept, the attached experimental patch (for Scapy-win) makes it possible to use the Matplotlib/pylab backend with the existing plot() commands. Just set conf.plotter="pylab" and call plot() as before. You can switch back to gnuplot with conf.plotter="gnuplot".
